Defense of the DEA Thesis –Ndabereye Amani Divine 2026
The GeoRes4Dev Project is proud to announce the successful DEA thesis defense of Ndabereye Amani Divine, a student at the University of Lubumbashi (UNILU) and a recipient of a GeoRes4Dev scholarship.
Her research, entitled:
« Éléments traces métalliques dans les sols superficiels de la ville de Lubumbashi : discrimination entre les effets de l’exploitation minière et de l’héritage géologique »
This study aims to characterize the distribution of trace metals in the soils of Lubumbashi, from the surface horizons down to the parent materials, and to identify their mineralogical associations as well as the types of clay minerals present in the different soil horizons. The research seeks to better understand and distinguish the influence of mining activities from that of the natural geological background on the distribution and accumulation of trace metals in soils.
The defense took place at the Faculty of Science, University of Lubumbashi.
We want to express our sincere gratitude to the supervisors and mentors for their guidance, support, and commitment throughout this work: Dr Florias Mees (MRAC) and Pr. Louis Kipata (UNILU).
We warmly congratulate Nadège on this remarkable achievement and on the journey she has accomplished so far. We wish her every success in her future academic and professional endeavors.
